You know when you’re driving down the street and there is ONE kid’s shoe in the street or gutter on the side of the road? And you say to yourself, “How in the heck did that shoe get there? What moron parent left a shoe in the road?” Now I know where the stray shoe in the gutter comes from. My daughter, Molly has three loner shoes. I just accepted the fact that I misplaced them. And then recently I witnessed the “funny” game she plays just as the van door is about to slide closed. She will quickly throw anything that is in her tiny 2 year old hand, be it a binky, cheerio, blanket, sippy cup, or shoe out the door just before it clicks shut! Funny. What a funny game. I have never noticed this fun game because as the door is closing I am already on the other side of the car. She is sooooo funny. This fun game is kinda expensive. Gotta nip this one ASAP.

I’m Amanda Maguire and I have been “Married to a Youth Pastor” for almost 12 years now. We have 3 kids, Dylan (8) and Molly (6) and Scotty (3). I worked in full-time youth ministry for 4 years, got married and got a “real job”, allowing me to continue to be a volunteer in youth ministry for another 4 years. We started having kids and now I’m just married to the Youth Pastor. I have great friends and a fun life! I have a passion and a calling for wives just like me, married to a Youth Pastor. I love to write. I love to do creative activities. I love to run. I love to shop. I love to dine out. And I would love time to do any of these things more.

Oh my goodness, this is true in my house too! Both my kids have several solo shoes.
We seemed to lose ours on long distant car trips–with 3 small children the van would be a mess. We would open the door and things would tumble out, plus we had one who was prone to car sickness, so we were often pulled off on the side of the highway…
i have a molly, too. she’s almost 2, and i’m always afraid the same thing will happen. she loves to have her window down, but i hardly ever let her, becuase she also loves to take her shoes off in the car. i know if i roll that window down, it’s going to cost me a pair of size 6 toddler shoes….
Ohhh… that explains a lot about where my kid’s shoes are…
I wonder if that is also where our…
Missing socks…missing DVD’s…and missing puzzle pieces go…
Thanks for the site… I love it…
I discovered this game TODAY! It was not a shoe but a sippy cup. I was at the gas station filling up (which is never fun these days). I opened my son’s door to air flow. When I got done getting gas I jumped in, hit the auto door close and as I turned back to make sure my son was ready to go I noticed the lack of cup in his little 16 mo hands. I jumped out and sure enough he had thrown his cup out the door. Luckly this time I caught it before we drove off.
Different subject, but we are talking games here. I am married to a youth pastor and have been for the past six years. Is my husband the only one out there that loves to play xbox 360 for fun? Is this a hobbie that he will ever out grow?
Jessica — good luck with that one. My husband’s “unwinding” activity of choice is his xbox 360. I have the sounds of “Call of Duty 4″ ringing through my home at all sorts of hours of day. Kind of annoying but I can overlook his habit seeing as how in 8 weeks, you can bet he’ll be pulling late night baby feeding duty with me. He might as well have something to entertain him while we’re up at all kinds of ungodly hours with a baby that won’t sleep!
But seriously? The xbox habit? It’s here to stay. Sorry.
Just found your blog and as I was reading this and thinking, maybe that’s where my 2-year old’s shoes have gone, I heard the noise of a little tinkle on the rug. Oh NO…my partially potty trained little girl forgot what she told me this morning: “Remember momma, we don’t Tee-Tee in the Minnie panties”. Glad someone else is living this crazy life of ministry, family, and little ones. Hang in there sister!
So funny! I saw a “gutter shoe” and almost laughed! Thanks for the funny perspective on annoying things . . . God is so generous with joy!
Ohhh nice i am not married and i have no child but i think that i learn a lesson from this blog that keep eyes on your child when they came out from car and also check the both pair of Branded shoes or Top quality shoes that they wear in the foot or not.:)
