My Own Poll…
By Amanda on Nov 24, 2008 in Featured
I’m just taking my own poll on a subject that may be pretty controversial…
Stuffed animals decorating the dash or back window of a car.
CUTE or NOT SO CUTE?
What do you think?
(I personally don’t get it. My gramma does it so that she can find her own car in the big parking lot at church. But I see people of all ages, that should be able to find their own cars, displaying a variety of stuffed animals. It makes sense when I see a car seat in the back, but not so much when a 35ish year-old lady gets into a car with no car seat and Hello Kitty stuffed animals all lined up in the back window.)

Hi, Amanda. I just recently found your site. I married a youth pastor on September 27th and I can relate to many of your articles. Thanks for the insight and for making me laugh.
On this post, I’m on the “not so cute” side. I know someone past 35-ish who has them on her front dash. I just don’t get it.
God Bless You
Amy

Ummm… yeah…. not so cute. What a way to waste a perfectly good stuffed animal!? I attribute the ‘decorating’ of the inside of one’s car about as useful as those little diamond shaped “Baby on Board” signs that were all the rage in the late 80’s and 90’s. I’m wondering what the point of those were… Were they to warn neighboring cars that the driver of the vehicle may be distracted and may swerve erratically, or to somehow convince those same neighboring drivers to not aim for mini-van in front of them, because the ‘precious cargo’ shouldn’t be blamed for the behavior of the driver…the world may never know… lol…

Not cute!
However, I never thought that someone might be doing that to help find the car. So, sure, I can understand a small percentage of the population needing to display a few radom items.

Not cute at all. Especially when they add the bobble head dogs, Why?!?!?

Not so cute, and, yes, even tacky. I’d take it a step further and put bumper sticker makers out of business and say no to those!
“Old People” are resourceful and probably just found another place to more of their stuff.

Not so cute. And they get all faded and the sun really damages them. But I have seen some really gross and offensive bumper stickers and duco paintings to help people make a statement or “find their cars” so I guess I’d prefer to see a window of toys than offensive stickers… One good point is that if you are on a long trip with your little ones it might help distract them briefly when they get to follow a car full of stuffed toys.
Just don’t make me fill my back window with toys and make sure grandma can still see clearly in her rear vision mirror.

Not so cute…
Next question–why?

Ok not so cute… one word “clutter”… I happen to believe the older you get the more stuff you hold on thoughout the years… then again this may not apply to everyone. However, for the others who do… they should learn how to let of go of unnecessary baggage. Is it really that hard?
