Who knew spaghetti was this good?

Tonight we really experienced some of the perks of working with students. On Mondays I always make a big spaghetti dinner and it is our night to invite anyone from neighbors to students to interns to family and friends to dinner. Sometimes we have 2 people and sometimes 20. Its pretty fun. Tonight it ended up being just a few students. They all ate first (and fast) then they took our 3 kids and played tag in the front yard until it was dark, so for about an hour my husband and I ate alone in peace and quiet and had ourselves a mini date night. It was the best spaghetti dinner ever. Great time with students and great alone time all in one! I loved it :)

  1. That sounds fantastic! I’m so glad you got your date night.
I don’t have kids yet, so I feel like it’s easy for my husband and I to make date night a priority. How do you normally do it with kids?

  2. There is no “normally” with us. we take it when we can get it. We have a great girl that used to be a student that babysits for us sometimess. But our schedule is so last minute and up in the air, we don’t usually have a set date night, like every Thursday night or anything like that. Since i can stay home, sometimes our babysitter comes in the afternoon and we get away for lunches or afternoon coffee.

  3. I LOVE the open dinner spaghetti nights idea, yum! I want to come, but that would be a long drive for dinner . . .

  4. so how does spaghetti nights work? Do you announce it (since your ministry is so big)- leaders/family/friends/students…. is it just word of mouth??
we want to do something like this but our ministry is very big and we didn’t know how you get the word out without a billion students showing up :)

  5. Smo’re night around the pit on Friday nights during the summer at the Cunningham’s. We have the most easy going yet deeply spiritual conversation around that fire.
Stop by Amanda’s for spaghetti and then drop by our place for dessert. Seriously…wish all of you could come. :)
