God runs through it!

Oh I LOVED this comment to my last post. I LOVE LOve LovED it!!! I’ve been thinking about it all week and what a new perspective. A refreshing one at that, it totally makes sense!

I don’t believe that God wants to be “first” on our list of priorities. In fact I think that limits Him a little.  He wants to be the center of our everything.  He wants everything we do to filter through Him.

So my new list is:

  1. Jeff
  2. Kids
  3. Ministry
  4. Everything Else

Knowing God runs through them all. (I still have to have a list, feels pretty second grade, but I’m learning.)

You guys are so smart!

  1. Yes, I like it a lot. John Ortberg talks about this idea in his book, “The Life You’ve Always Wanted.” We are so quick to compartmentalize our life into different slices on a pie chart. There’s a slice for intellectual, relational, financial, vocational, recreational life, etc. And, how easy is it to just add “spiritual life” to that list of slices. But, what does that mean, “spiritual life?” God’s a part of every part of our life. God doesn’t want to be one of those compartments. He wants to be at the heart of each one of them.

Thanks Amanda – and everyone else – for that reminder.

  2. Just a random thing: I just read The Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards= amazing! This gave me such a different perspective on life in leadership in God’s Kingdom- it helped me a lot since we have had a hard couple of weeks in our church

  3. I’m a youth leader and if any of you out there are or are looking to be one too I would recommend reading both of the above spoken about books. They should be in every Youth Ministry sylabus and leader’s library! Those both changed my way of ministering and it is just funny to see them spoken about together. I’m just wierd.
