According to Molly (she’s 2)…

Amanda on January 29th, 2009

Santa and Jesus work at McDonald’s.
When she sat on Santa’s lap this year she ordered up a football and guacamole. Easy enough :)
When she prays at night it sounds something like this: “Thank you God for making me. Thank you for Mommy, Daddy, Bubby, and baby Scotty. I want to play and have a cheeseburger and chocolate milk. I want french fries and guacamole. Amen.”

I can relate on so many levels. I love cheeseburgers, chocolate milk, french fries, and guacamole. I also “order-up” prayers like a drive-thru sometimes.

True Confessions #2 and #3:

#2: I hate to brush my teeth.

Don’t worry, I do it, but I don’t like to do it. When I am ready for bed I just want to go to bed. 2 minutes is a lot of sleep time in my life just staring at myself in the mirror looking at my wrinkles and laugh lines.

#3: I put on deodorant before I go to bed.

I don’t know why. I’m not a night sweater. I don’t think I stink before I go to bed. I didn’t grow up doing this, its just a habit I picked up along the way. (I put it on in the morning too). ??

So now you know me even better. :)

Vacation Re-Do…

Amanda on January 24th, 2009

I know I have mentioned earlier that this Christmas season was super busy. And after the craziness blew over Jeff did take some days off to be with our family. However, we (he) did not think thoroughly through the days he was taking off. He took off the week days but not the weekend. Very important ladies!! Note to self: our husbands brains do not shut off if there is a weekend service to be planned. So although he was home, he wasn’t all present all the time. And he DID work so that he could put together the service. Now one month later and his brain is fried, he is still exhausted and (using his words), “giving crappy messages”. So we as a family are having a vacation re-do this next week. He is not preaching this weekend or next weekend so that he can really rest.

Our time-off together is precious, we don’t always have the luxury of spontaneity and it needs to be thoughtfully planned. Lesson learned.

I am blessed to have a re-do. I can hardly wait!

Pi-Yo!

Amanda on January 15th, 2009

I have been wanting to take a Pilates or Yoga class since Scotty was born. I would love to have someone else kick my butt (and tummy) into shape. But with 3 kids and a husband who, you know, is a youth pastor…there doesn’t seem to be a good time to go to a class. Well, through our cute little community there is a pilates/yoga class offered early Saturday mornings. I quickly signed myself up. Its a perfect time, I can be home just as the kids are having breakfast and we can all play together for a little bit before Jeff has to go to work.  Last Saturday was my first class. As I pull up to the building I notice it is the neighborhood senior center. Hmmm okay, I guess the class must not be very big. I enter into a room of round little white haired ladies! I have signed myself up for a senior citizen pilates/yoga class! Awesome. I am the youngest by 30 years easily. Not only that but our instructor was a bit of a surprise as well,  65+, and as round as a snowman. I have to tell you, I was very doubtful that Ethel was going to help me get my body into any kind of shape. I had some prejudice ideas that the exercise instructor should be in good to better shape than his or her participants. Well, one hour and [...]

Cookie dough or cooked cookies right out of the oven?

It’s a toughy, I know. But you have to choose….no riding the fence.

True Confessions

Amanda on January 7th, 2009

I was just thinking, we know each other, but do we really know each other? I thought it would be refreshing to purge a little of my soul…to confess to one another. So then you can get to know the real me. I have some deep dark secrets…
I drink straight out of the Hershey’s Syrup bottle.
I use to hide, standing inside the fridge with both doors open so that my husband couldn’t see me. But he knew what I was doing. I can’t hide my addiction any longer. So I just sit right out in the open and drink it down. My son calls it “mommy’s bottle”. (it’s a little sick, I know).
Just think twice if you’re at my house and want to use the Hershey’s Syrup.
Thought you might want to know.

A New Contest….I think it will be funny!

Amanda on December 29th, 2008

Okay, it was the holidays, so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I havent posted anything in awhile because my computer has been broken. So dont be mad if there isnt an apostrophe, the number zero, nine, or six, or quotation marks, sometimes question marks, or any sort of brackets because they dont work. Coffee was spilt on my laptop and well…thats not so good for a computer, if you didnt know.

I was going to wait to post this contest because of the grammatical errors, but I dont care, I think its too funny.

Here it is:

Here are some pictures from last years GROUP Conference. We need to come up with funny captions for each picture. The picture will be its own post so you can add your funny caption just by commenting on it.

We will post the winners next week.

Gift cards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

I am going to try to get the 1st place winners some screen time at this years conference :) . (So if you win you gotta get your buns to the conference to see it).

Get funny, and make me laugh!

Love,

Amanda
