Thanks for the chuckles. I really need that today. It is October, pastor appreciation month, and as a gift from our church, my husband was told that he is going to be laid off by our church on New Year's Day. Imagining leaving our teens and children behind just breaks my heart....especially with Christmas coming. As a response to Sarah's note, Your family is extremely lucky. It's just another day to count our blessings and look forward to what God has for us ahead. Pray for us please.

Keli,

That was great! Oh, it is hard for me to not give a sarcastic answer when people ask me, "have you seen your husband today?"

I am so greatful for the few friends in our church who view me as me, and not as the youth pastor's wife.

How about, Greet her by saying, "Hello, (insert youth minister's wife's name). How are you?" instead of "Hey, where's (insert youth minister's name)?

I am new to the blog, but I just had to share on this one - I don't know if we just got the best church in the world or what the deal is - but in Oct. (for Pastor appreciation) and for Christmas, we end up with about 4 or 5 different gift cards to select restaurants here in Bismarck, ND. Nice places - there aren't even any barnyard animals there! I get so totally overwhelmed because it sometimes lasts us up to a year to use them all, since we don't get out much and whenever we do - it's with one of these blessed gift cards! Thank you to my church family! (Some of them even come from people in the church that don't even have kids in the youth ministry! Shocker!:)

I love the gift card idea! We get leftover food from youth events, but how many Hot N' Ready Pizzas (we call them hot n' nasties) can you live on?

Yes, give us a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory, Olive Garden, or ANYWHERE! Our pastor and his wife did that for us once because they get it. It was like they said, with this card, "Spend some time together in a nice place with good food." We loved it.

Don't get me wrong though because I am SO thankful for leftover food and random gifts of Tupperware and clothes.

Anne,

I've been to that restaurant in Sac. I wouldn't say it was the "most romantic" but I thought it was charming and the chickens were adorable. But I guess I have that kind of personality. We made the mistake of taking my 80 grandmother who thought it was horrible to have live animals running around. Anyways it was nice to recognize where you were talking about.
