Church-y phrases that should die a peaceful death:

Amanda on April 27th, 2008

“I DON’T HAVE A PEACE ABOUT IT…”
(means: your idea is a BAD IDEA, but I can’t think of a nice way to tell you so I’ll say this over-used phrase.)

“LET’S PRAY ABOUT IT”
(means: NO WAY, forget it! But I just don’t have time to tell you today, so I’ll say this over-used phrase and tell you no tomorrow.)

Now, I understand that sometimes these over-used phrases can be truthful and real. But I have found that a lot of church-y people like to just throw these out there a little too much.

Wow, you really hit the nail on the head. I have only been a youth pastor’s wife for three years, so it is nice to know that I am not a terrible person for thinking the things you so eloquently describe here on this blog! I thought I was the only one! So, thank you.

I have only been a youth pastors wife for 3 years- our entire marriage. Hardest three years of my life. I feel tired. My husband is more like my roommate. Should romance be gone this soon? I feel like I have to compete to get his attention. I get the worst of him at the end of the day. Any time I suggest that I am hurting, it is brushed aside as being “emotional”. But I am sure if I was between the ages of 13-18 he would be interested in what I was feeling. I don’t really want this anymore.
