My husband takes Monday's off as well. Unfortunately though,I work Monday-Friday. Our weekends have been so full with youth ministry stuff lately that I feel like we never have time together. Those of you who are able to have the day off with your husband are very lucky! Enjoy it!

My husband (the resident youth pastor) found your site (does he think I need some feelings of camaraderie?) and has laughed his head off over it. We're Seventh Day Adventists, so the big heretical joke for us is that we hold SUNDAY sacred. And Monday, too. We don't sleep in (small children), but we do bum around and work in the garden, sometimes go to Disneyland (before the passes ran out), and always always always a trip to Jamba Juice!

So my fiance (who is a youth pastor) gave me this site to go on because I have been wanting to get advice for YOUTH pastor's wives (so many people give me advice but it does not pertain to a youth pastor's wife). He is the junior high pastor at a large church and we have been serving together there for over a year (we tear down, set up, clean up, etc for about 250 youth kids a week because we meet in a high school while our building is being built). I loved this post because we get married next month and I am doing everything in my power to not work on Mondays (his day off) because honestly I work 7 days a week now with my weekends gone because of church (4 youth services a weekend)... and it was encouraging to see that we are already trying to make plans to have a 'sacred day.' weekends are brutal and so rewarding and I hope God blesses me with that day off to just be with him (especially in the first year of marriage). Thanks for your words of wisdom!

Our Monday's are Thursdays because it is the day after youth group and we are usually up late so we sleep in on Thursdays. We don't have any kids yet, so we take the day and travel to his families house or we have my family over for Survivor. It is amazing to have a day off and really dedicate it to us. A day where we can be refreshed and talk about what happened on Wednesday night has really helped us communicate our different issues we have with youth group just things that we are dealing with personally. It is a blessing and I am always excited for Thursday to come!

Our sacred day is Thursday, which sounds weird, I know. My husband leaves at 8:00 on Wednesday morning and doesn't come home until about 9:30 that night, so it makes Thursdays so special just knowing we'll get to be together ALL DAY. We used to go hang out at the beach or go to the forest, but now with gas prices so high, we usually just go to the park or the library with our 2-year-old. And my hubby's phone and computer go off for the day, too! The first time was tough for him, but now he remembers before I do! We share him all week -- we deserve one day to have him all to ourselves!!!

We dont have a specific day because we have grown folks for children, but several times during the week we make time to sit and talk, Sunday afternoons are quiet time together with the family or just us two (if the kids are busy), and at least once a month we have a "date night" either alone or with another couple. We also spend time with friends outside of church at least once a month just being a part of the group (where its not about being the minister's family).

Oh, yes. Sacred days are wonderful. I make my hubby turn his cell phone off. Does it ever stop ringing?
He's away on a camping trip now...I can relate to your post on the busy season of Spring and Summer. I don't think we have an "off" weekend until November...and sometime in there our first baby will be born. I'm glad I heard about your website...nice to know someone else out there feels the same way I do.
By the way, I love "The Bachelor" too! Praying for y'all!

Mondays are sacred to us too. :) We're at church 6 days a weeks and when Mondays roll around, we put ourselves on a total disconnect from the world: computers and cell phones go off and we don't make plans with ANYONE. I love it! Most Mondays we just sleep in and laze around at home; so refreshing! I guard our Mondays like a crazy woman, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

Friday is our "Family Day". There is no sleeping in with two small boys, but we will have a big homemade breakfast together, clean up together, and then do something fun - just the 4 of us! Its a day that me & the boys look forward to knowing that we have daddy all to ourselves - no phone calls, no going to church... its wonderful!!!
