I never thought we could go to this because church funds are super tight, turns out God gave us $ from 3 different sources and worked out childcare and we can actually go. I'm still in shock (we live in CA and have travel expenses too.) Looking forward to meeting some of you there.

My husband and I are going! Neither of us have been to it before. This is just his second year of youth ministry and I am taking personal days off of work (hs teacher) since we live in WI and it will be quite the drive. Thanks so much for this blog- it just feels great to be reminded that I am not the only one out there!!! I am hoping this will refresh and rejuvinate us- connecting us closer to God and eachother!
Look forward to seeing you in Feb!

My husband has been to this conference twice and both times came home saying he wished I could join him, for so many reasons. This year he's going to the one in Canada, the Canadian Youth Workers Convention, and I hope to go with him. We'll see if it works out! I'd still love to see about going next year to this one though, and it'd be great to meet up with all of you there!

My husband and a other close youth pastor friends of ours went last year and they just fell in love with it. (Of course) So they all decided that we would do whatever we could to bring their spouses this year. I really look forward to going and I think it would be awesome to meet up with all of you!

Ann,
Thank you so much. I do still think youth ministry is great, minus a couple times a year getting tired. I've looked for more pastor's wives blogs online and not many of them are very encouraging, so I would like to avoid getting to that burn out point if possible, or know how to handle times and when to make changes.

Dana,

Yes, Cathy's session would apply to you. Last year she suggested that we divide ourselves based on life stages. So, there were tables for people who did not have children.

You also asked if this session is for people who have been in ministry for awhile. Yes, it is. However, I think that it would be the most helpful for people who are at the front end of this crazy journey.

Last January I was miserable!! I was so bitter and tired. Then, in February we went to the NYMC. I am so glad that I went to Cathy's session for spouses. It was a great time to refresh, refocus, and to realize that I am not alone. Also, I got some great ideas from the women sitting at my table.

I would encourage you to attend. Especially if you are still at a place where you think that youth ministry is great. You might get some ideas that help you avoid the roller coaster that so many yp wives get stuck on.

This will be mine and my husband's first time to go to NYMC. We've done NYWC for a few years now and want a change. This will be our first conference to take volunteers from the church we're at now too. Very exciting!

I've already looked through all the sessions to go to and am thinking about going to Cathy's. Is it more for people who have kids and have been married in ministry for a while? I'm one of the main youth volunteers at our church of about 60 volunteers, and have no kids yet. I started working with youth before getting married. Would her session be something to pertain to me?

This past year I attended all of Cathy Fields' "Married to a Youth Pastor" breakouts and they were priceless. It was amazing to see all the different roles of the wives (and a few hubbies)had and how it is tough/or easier at different stages with our kiddos. Cathy encouraged conversation among women with kids in the same age bracket or just married or where ever you are. All of that makes a huge difference on how we can support our spouse. I will def go again. I do think it made me a better support to my husband in ways that I felt were insignificant before I attended those meetings. OK...so I feel strongly about the conference!
