We met at a youth ministry event last September and within a few months were talking about marriage. Two single people in our mid-to-late thirties, we weren't about to waste any more time! (More on that later.)
My story--our story--isn't particularly unique...
I'm not the first to marry a youth pastor.
Not the first to leave a job, pack up and move halfway across the country,
Nor the first to seek to build community in a new town,
to work to learn the ropes of a new church (even new denomination),
to struggle to find employment,
to balance wifely responsibilities and leadership expectations,
to hunt for recipes that include (but don't taste like) vegetables for my husband who still eats like a teenager...
And I certainly won't be the last.
But maybe it's the commonality of my (our) story that makes it worth sharing.
Because there are so many others who've gone before and still others who will come after.
Because we could use a place to connect...
a place to feel seen or known or understood--maybe for the first time in a long time...
a place to share, to vent, to mourn, to celebrate...
with like-minded women (and men!) also married to a youth pastor. (To be fair, some of the best lessons I've learned about partnering with a youth pastor spouse came from a best friend's husband... who I'm hoping to convince to share some of his story and lessons sometime soon!)
Now then, tell me about yourself...
What's your name? Where you from? Where do you live now? What's the thing that makes our stories most similar and the thing that makes them completely different?
I'm so looking forward to meeting all of you!
